Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Insurance Verification Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations, and maintaining accurate medical records. This role is crucial in facilitating smooth operations within our medical office and enhancing patient satisfaction through effective communication and problem-solving skills. Duties Verify insurance coverage for new and existing patients timely. Communicate with patients and/or families regarding patient responsibilities Communicate with insurance companies to resolve coverage issues. Accurately enter insurance information into the hospital's billing system to ensure timely claims filing. Collaborate with the admissions team to ensure all necessary documentation is complete. Assist patients with insurance-related inquiries and provide clear explanations of coverage and benefits. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance policies and regulations. Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Other duties assigned Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or higher preferred. Previous experience in insurance verification, medical billing, or a related field. Strong understanding of insurance policies, procedures, and regulations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in using billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of behavioral health terminology and services is a plus.
