Visitation Specialist The Visitation Specialist supports the well-being of children during supervised visits with parents. This is primarily accomplished through observation, intervention, and documentation of family visits. Visitation Specialists are expected to proactively assess, encourage, and intervene during visits in a manner that empowers parents to meet the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of their children. They encourage and support parents to identify, understand, and respond to their children's needs as parents strengthen their bond with their children. Position Prerequisites High School Diploma or equivalent One year of experience working with children/families. Previous experience in a social services organization is preferred. Position Supervised and Degree of Supervision The Visitation Specialist is supervised by and reports directly to the Visitation Supervisor. Responsibilities and Duties This list of responsibilities and duties is not intended to be exhaustive. Twin Oaks reserves the right to revise this job description as needed to comply with actual job requirements. 1. Provide safe and supportive supervision for families who participate in visitation. 2. Ensure the emotional and physical safety of all individuals participating during visits. 3. Provide intervention during the regular visitation sessions based upon the non-punitive concepts of democratic and respectful parenting. 4. Complete reports that document behaviors during visits according to program guidelines. 5. Assist in developing and maintaining client records and program documentation; enter necessary information into required software system(s) in a timely and accurate manner. 6. Participate in the management of visiting areas by helping to keep the premises clean and hazard free. Sanitize items used by families according to program guidelines. 7. Promptly report any concerns regarding the safety and wellbeing of visitors and staff to the program supervisor. 8. Assess for family and parenting needs. 9. Create family centered plans that target specific parenting needs. 10. Participate in trainings that address the parent child relationship, childhood development, court testimonies, program development, and curriculum development. 11. Solicit donations of goods and services needed by visiting families. 12. Perform other duties assigned by the Visitation Supervisor or program administration. Skills, Abilities, and Expectations 1.
