Job Description

The Department of Social Services seeks a highly motivated and dependable professional to join our Family Support Services team. This role requires advanced communication and exceptional customer service skills to support the Economic Services Division. The successful candidate will assist the Family Support Services Program Manager in determining eligibility and supporting Eligibility Specialists I. Responsibilities include training staff on county policies and procedures, responding to employee and client inquiries, managing documentation and agency mail, maintaining and covering work queues, processing applications, and providing additional support as needed. This is a fast-paced, dynamic position where responsibilities may shift based on program and agency needs. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in standard computer applications such as Microsoft Office, strong conflict resolution skills, and exceptional organizational abilities. Success in this position requires adaptability, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, high-volume environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism. Knowledge of Application Assignment, Energy, Childcare, and/or Work First is desired. Graduation from high school or GED and three years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience, which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling data, analyzing data, and/or performing mathematical or legal tasks.
Required:
One or more years' experience as an Eligibility Specialist or Income Maintenance Caseworker. One or more years' experience with NCFast. The successful candidate must be able to: Interpret complex rules and regulations and use good judgment to make appropriate eligibility decisions. Must have exceptional organizational skills, Work independently, Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, Ability to work quickly within deadlines, Have basic knowledge of universal computer technology and general office equipment.
