Recovery Specialist - Opioid Overdose Recovery Program (OORP) Overnight (7 PM-7 AM) and weekends, available immediately

Position Overview:

The Recovery Specialist provides non-clinical, peer-based support to individuals with substance use disorder referred by Newton Medical Center, local law enforcement, or self-referral. This role bridges challenging moments and long-term recovery by offering encouragement, guidance, and practical support. Through consistent engagement, the Recovery Specialist helps individuals begin and sustain their recovery journey.

Requirements :

Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years of personal recovery experience, demonstrating stability and a strong understanding of the recovery process. Must have, or be willing to obtain, New Jersey Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) credential. Strong interpersonal communication and computer skills are essential for this role. Recovery Specialists must also possess a valid driver's license in good standing, maintain a safe driving record, carry adequate automobile insurance, and have reliable transportation. In addition, individuals must meet all requirements to volunteer/work within the Atlantic Health System/Newton Medical Center.

Responsibilities:

The Recovery Specialists' respond to referrals from Atlantic Health System/Newton Medical Center and local municipal police departments throughout Sussex County, providing in-person support. Conduct follow-up phone outreach to support continued engagement. The Recovery Specialist will help participants develop an individualized recovery management plan that will identify goals, strengths, and barriers. Work closely with the patient navigator to coordinate care with Newton Medial Center staff and community partners. Recovery Specialists must maintain accurate records, adhere to all data collection protocol, and participate in team meetings and supervision.

On-Call Shift Expectations:

This role includes twelve-hour on-call shifts, scheduled from 7 PM to 7 AM during which you will be in a "waiting to be engaged" status. While not actively working during the shift, you must remain available and ready to respond to work-related needs if contacted. While on call, you must be reachable by phone and able to report to the local hospital or police department within one hour if needed. Access to a reliable mode of transportation and internet connection is required.

Compensation & Benefits:

• $75.00 on-call rate for each 12-hour shift.
• If called to respond in person, an additional $125.00 is paid for the first four hours of work related to that call.
• If called to respond by telephone or virtual meeting, an additional $50.00 is paid for the first two hours of work related to that call.
• Additional work time, including follow-up calls, documentation, meetings, trainings, and supervision is compensated at a rate of $19.00 per hour.
• Paid sick leave in accordance with the New Jersey Earned Sick Leave Law.
