Job Description
Overview The Patient Registration Specialist is responsible for registering patients in, gathering complete data necessary to assure timely reimbursement, collects out of pocket insurance fees and completes accurate registrations.
Job Details Qualifications include:
High School diploma, some college or equivalent education required Previous registration, medical insurance background, medical terminology and knowledge of CPT codes required Excellence in customer service, interview and data accumulation skills, computer/keyboard skills and internet knowledge Responsibilities include: Interviews patients efficiently and courteously to obtain pertinent demographic and insurance information Secures signatures to ensure timely reimbursement as well as ensuring consents are signed specific to service being rendered Completes a proper patient search for new and prior hospital visits to properly identify the correct patient and prevent duplication of medical record numbers Scans insurance cards, scripts, patient identification and all pertinent documentation. Ensures insurance verification is completed via Relay, phone, fax or insurance website Appropriate authorization and/or referral information is obtained per Managed Care guidelines; all pertinent information is documented in notes and entered into the appropriate registration fields. As part of Revenue Cycle management, collects co-payments, co-insurance, deductible and self pays at point of service Posted Salary Range USD $27.19 - USD $27.19 /Hr. The salary range or rate listed does not include any differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
