Duties Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility through electronic health records (EHR) systems and direct communication with insurance providers, including Medicaid and other health plans Assist patients with the enrollment process, including completing intake forms and explaining coverage options Review medical records, discharge summaries, and documentation to ensure accurate coding using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding standards Collaborate with social workers, case managers, and behavioral health professionals to coordinate services for individuals with co-occurring disorders or mental health conditions Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Medicaid regulations, healthcare support policies, and HIPAA compliance to safeguard patient information Conduct data entry with precision into electronic health records (EHR) systems while ensuring accuracy and completeness of patient information Provide exceptional client communication by addressing inquiries related to health insurance benefits, billing procedures, and discharge planning Skills Proven experience working in hospital or acute care settings with familiarity in medical terminology and healthcare workflows Strong understanding of Medicaid regulations, health insurance policies, and medical coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding practices Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations; bilingual abilities are a plus Knowledge of EMR/EHR management systems for efficient documentation and record keeping Experience working with individuals from underserved communities or those with mental health or behavioral health needs Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion while maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards Skilled in discharge planning, intake procedures, case management activities, and working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams Join us as a Patient Eligibility & Enrollment Specialist and be part of a passionate team dedicated to providing accessible healthcare services.
