Job Description

Astrix is seeking an experienced Chemotherapy Authorization Specialist to support a leading healthcare organization. This role is responsible for obtaining prior authorizations for chemotherapy, infusion, and episode-based medications while ensuring timely processing, insurance verification, and coordination with clinical teams. The ideal candidate has recent oncology authorization experience, strong Epic EMR knowledge, and the ability to interpret treatment plans and clinical documentation.

Irwindale, CA (Candidates must be based on the West Coast)
Schedule:
Monday-Friday | 8:30 AM - 5:00
PM Pay:
$28-32/hr
Schedule Type:
Hybrid (Remote/Onsite) Contract Opportunity Responsibilities Submit and manage prior authorizations for chemotherapy, infusion, and episode-based medications. Review treatment plans, physician orders, and clinical documentation to support authorization requests. Interpret clinical notes to ensure accurate and complete submissions. Perform insurance eligibility and benefit verification. Work directly with commercial insurance carriers and payer web portals to obtain authorization approvals. Coordinate referrals, pre-registration activities, and patient scheduling support as needed. Maintain accurate documentation within Epic EMR and other internal systems. Communicate with providers, clinical staff, and insurance representatives regarding authorization status and required documentation. Meet productivity, quality, and turnaround time expectations while maintaining excellent customer service.
Qualifications:
Recent experience using Epic EMR . Hands-on experience submitting chemotherapy, infusion, and episode-based medication authorizations . Experience reviewing treatment plans and interpreting clinical documentation. Strong knowledge of insurance verification and benefit eligibility. Experience working with major insurance payer portals. Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Excel, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Microsoft Office . Experience with referral coordination, pre-registration, and customer service. Oncology experience preferred.
Productivity Expectations:
Process approximately 25 chemotherapy/infusion authorization cases per day while maintaining quality, accuracy, and turnaround time standards.
