Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible for verifying eligibility and benefits for our clinics. We accept all types of insurances as well as ensures that required authorization or pre-certifications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Communicates with insurance companies, patients and OST staff Keeps records and monitor patient appointments according to patient referral/authorization status Responsible for calling insurance company for benefit verifications and insurance pre-authorizations on all patients Responds easily to routine requests for information Reviews schedules for needed referrals Maintain patient confidentiality Maintain HIPPAA compliance Filing insurance paperwork and payment agreements Setting up self-pay Perform other duties as assigned

Ability to work independently and have strong organizational and time management skills Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills Ability to work under pressure Dependable Exercises safe judgment in decision making Demonstrates tact and understanding when dealing with patients, team members, members of other disciplines, and the public Must possess honesty, integrity, and accountability
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The Insurance Verification Specialist has the option to work Remote, but will need to be in-office for the initial training period and occasionally for meetings, occasional travel to our Abilene office.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner Requires repetitive hand motion Minimal lifting and carrying requirements TRAVEL This position is Remote, but will require occasional travel to our Abilene office.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or
GED PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
5+ years in the medical field 3+ years working with insurance / HMO referrals / prior authorizations
