Job Description

To provide direct entry of hardcopy and electronically received data for admissions information submitted to Lamar University. Interpret information contained in admissions documents and make appropriate determinations to ensure proper classification and placement within the admissions system. Enter, prepare, and maintain admissions applications, transcripts, test scores, and other supporting documentation related to the admissions process. Review system reports that update electronically submitted data, verifying accuracy and making necessary corrections to maintain complete and accurate applicant records. Process admissions applications by reviewing submitted materials and entering applicant data into the student information system to ensure accurate record creation and timely application processing. Review, interpret, and enter information from admissions documents, including transcripts and test scores, to ensure proper classification and placement within the applicant record. Maintain applicant records by indexing and attaching supporting documentation, verifying required materials, and updating records within the student information system to ensure accuracy and completeness of admissions data. Respond to inquiries from applicants, students, and university departments regarding application status, missing documents, and admissions requirements while providing general assistance throughout the admissions process. Other duties may be assigned to this position on a regular or occasional basis to respond to the needs of the university.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED required. Six months of data entry or related experience.
Desired Qualifications:
Previous experience working in higher education admissions, enrollment management, or a university administrative office. Experience processing student records or admissions documentation such as applications, transcripts, or test score reports. Familiarity with student information systems such as Banner, Slate, or similar database systems.
Key Competencies:
Familiarity with computers as well as excellent data entry, organization, and customer service skills. Ability to interpret admissions documentation. The ability to work independently as well as collaborate with others when needed for projects and committee work. The desire to serve students and an appreciation for working with people from a wide range of experiences.
Physical Requirements:
With or without accommodation: Works in an office environment for 6 to 8 hours. Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment that does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements. Occasional lifting, pushing, climbing, and pulling may be required. The work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks. Occasionally lift 10-15 pounds
Job Conditions:
Office environment with controlled temperature. Moderate exposure to noise.
