Insurance Verification Specialist North Texas Ob-Gyn Associates North Texas Ob-Gyn Associates is a busy and growing private Obstetrics and Gynecology practice seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Insurance Verification Specialist to join our team. This position plays an important role in ensuring patients receive accurate information regarding their insurance coverage and financial responsibility prior to receiving services. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, comfortable working in a fast-paced medical office, and has a strong understanding of insurance eligibility and benefit verification. Previous insurance verification experience is preferred, and OB/GYN experience is highly valued. We are looking for a strong team player who is excited to grow with our practice and contribute to improving our front-end revenue cycle processes and overall patient experience. Job Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for upcoming patient appointments. Obtain detailed benefit information for office visits, specialist services, sonograms/ultrasounds, and in-office procedures . Verify applicable copays, deductibles, coinsurance, out-of-pocket maximums, and remaining patient responsibility. Determine whether services require prior authorization, precertification, referrals, or other payer requirements. Review insurance plan limitations, exclusions, and coverage requirements when applicable. Accurately document verified benefits and insurance information within the practice's EMR/practice management system. Communicate patient financial responsibility to appropriate staff prior to the patient's appointment. Identify insurance discrepancies or potential coverage issues and work proactively to resolve them before services are rendered. Contact insurance carriers through payer portals and by telephone when additional benefit information or clarification is required. Maintain knowledge of common commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance plans accepted by the practice. Work closely with scheduling, front office, billing, and clinical teams to ensure accurate information is available before the patient's visit. Assist with verification for in-office OB/GYN procedures and diagnostic services, including determining coverage and patient responsibility. Maintain patient confidentiality and follow all HIPAA and practice policies. Assist with additional front-end revenue cycle or insurance-related duties as needed. Qualifications Previous medical insurance eligibility and benefits verification experience preferred . Previous OB/GYN experience strongly preferred . Knowledge of medical insurance terminology, including deductibles, copays, coinsurance, out-of-pocket maximums, referrals, prior authorizations, and medical necessity requirements. Experience navigating insurance payer portals and contacting insurance carriers directly. Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document benefit information. Comfortable working with multiple insurance plans and verifying benefits for different types of medical services. Strong computer skills and experience working within an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and/or practice management system. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize a high volume of verifications. Dependable, professional, and able to work independently while remaining a strong member of the team. Ability to communicate insurance and financial information clearly and professionally to coworkers and patients when necessary.
