JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the coordination of verification of all medical insurance and clerical support services to the billing department

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Generates daily schedule and reviews verification notes to ascertain the date of last verification. 2. Verifies patients insurance coverage, demographics and coordinates with Referral Coordinator when a referral is needed. 3. Maintains insurance verification spreadsheet for all verifications that reveal a lapse in coverage and or private pay. 4. Documents standard verification information in the collection notes and notifies the admissions manager and/or branch coordinator of any irregularities and/or special benefits. 5. Provides clerical support to the billing office to include, filing, pulling, and coping EOBs for collections staff.

Qualifications:

High school degree or equivalent with a minimum of two years experience in insurance verification, referrals, co-payment collection, billing and customer service. 1 2 years experience in medical billing software and ability to balance and close cash drawer is also required.
