Job Description

Majority Women Employee-Owned. Empowered by Everyone to Transform Lives. Overview Genesee Lake School is currently seeking an Admissions & Respite Specialist to join their team! The Admissions & Respite Specialist assesses the needs of individuals inquiring about Genesee Lake School's residential and day school offerings, and coordinates and oversees Respite services. This position serves as a primary point of contact for prospective students and Respite participants, families, referral sources, funders, and other stakeholders throughout the inquiry, assessment, admission, and service delivery processes. The position is integral to the Admissions Department and Genesee Lake School and requires the individual to effectively manage multiple priorities, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, and ensure services are responsive to individual needs and organizational requirements.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Responds to new and follow-up inquiries regarding Genesee Lake School residential, day school, and Respite services by phone, email, fax, and social media. Serves as a primary point of contact and liaison for prospective students and Respite participants, families, referral sources, funders, and other stakeholders throughout the inquiry, assessment, admission, and service delivery processes. Gathers, records, and assesses information necessary to determine whether services and placement meet the individual's needs. (including IEPs and other academic records, psychological evaluations, medical records, and other pertinent documents) Enters referral information into client databases Conducts visits to interview and observe students, either on-site or virtually. Conducts information-seeking conversations with relevant stakeholders to gather additional information and compare observations with referral information received. Attends weekly Admissions Meetings, prepares and presents summaries of information collected, and makes recommendations regarding admission. Monitors transfers, discharges, and the admissions wait list and reviews student information with the team regarding educational, health, social, programming, therapeutic, and other needs. Coordinates additional information requested by programming, therapeutic, education, and other staff and follows up to ensure requested information is obtained. Schedules and facilitates tours of GLS service offerings and provides information appropriate to the requested service, including residential, educational, vocational, and Respite offerings. Assesses the viability of funding sources by ensuring payment mechanisms are identified and workable prior to admission or service delivery. Coordinates all aspects of the GLS Respite Program, including inquiries, acceptance, admission, documentation, scheduling, visits, check-in/check-out, discharges, transportation when appropriate, and related documentation. Coordinates Respite scheduling and program-area placement in collaboration with Residential Program staff, considering program availability, staffing needs, and student needs. Serves as a resource to Respite families and caregivers regarding funding sources, eligibility requirements, and access to appropriate community resources. Promotes and develops the Respite Program through outreach and marketing efforts; maintains relationships with all external stakeholders. Completes monthly Respite billing and reports accurately and monitors utilization, trends, and other relevant program data. Reviews Respite systems and processes and identifies opportunities to improve efficiency, communication, and quality of service delivery.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Bachelor's Degree in Education or Human Services required. 2 years of previous work experience in a human services field or education required. Proficient in Word and Excel required. Previous experience working in databases preferred. Excellent critical thinking and assessment skills, problem-solving skills, verbal and written communication skills, and strong customer service skills required. Familiarity with state regulatory requirements (e.g., DCF 52, DHS 83) and agency policies preferred. Must be organized, reliable, and able to work independently while coordinating with multiple team members. Must have some flexibility in schedule.
SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION
Hours:
1st Shift hours and Monday-Friday primarily Flexibility required to meet Respite student and program needs.
Salary Range:
