Job Description

TITLE:
FILE CLERK RESPONSIBILITES
File Clerk is responsible for activities in support of the office. The scope of duties for this position encompasses the following areas, files & collections, or as needed by administration in furtherance of the business. Primarily this position involves the duties of compiling data, preparing invoices and bills by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Under normal supervision, the file clerk may perform the duties bellow. Management reserves the right to add, modify, or rescind work assignments.
  • Read computer files or gathers records such as patient care records and authorizations.
  • Enters information into the computer and computes amounts due.
  • Create, review and complete file documents using dates provided on patient care reports and transportation system.
  • Prepares computer generated and manual forms to bill third party payers for services provided.
  • Prepares pre-authorization forms to insurance companies to provide services.
  • Verify patients insurance information utilizing various resources.
  • Review denials adjusting and/or corrections to resubmit claims for payment.
  • Maintain workflow to keep aging accounts at a minimum by following up unpaid claims daily.
  • Performs office support to administration staff including preparing, drafting, and proofing various reports, letters, and other correspondence, attending meetings, and answering the phone.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced working environment.

  • Attention to details and accuracy in execution.
  • Analytical thinking skills
  • Must display sufficient written and oral communications skills.
  • Operates business office machines such as copy machines, fax machine, postage machine, working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, REQUIRED
EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or Equivalent File and Coding Experience a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Occasional reaching (arms extended), bending/stooping, and grasping/holding with hands.
  • Frequent speaking.
  • Constant sitting, using hands for repetitive movements, seeing, and hearing
