Purpose:

The position of Forensic Interviewer is to conduct consistent, high quality forensic interviewing to the abused children seen at the Center; to communicate the results of the interview as indicated and act as an effective member of the multidisciplinary team. This is a full time salaried position with benefits.

Qualifications:

MA degree plus 2 years experience interviewing children from abusive/dysfunctional life settings. (BA/BS degree plus 3 years experience may be substituted for MA degree) Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrates excellence in team work and multidisciplinary coordination. A minimum of two years of professional experience working with children and families where abuse and violence are identified issues is required. Previous professional experience working with the criminal justice or child welfare system and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team is preferred. Previous experience or training in the forensic interviewing of child victims of abuse is also preferred.at the request of the CACMC in a consistent manner.

Requirements:

Must submit to a thorough criminal history background check as permitted by regulation and updated child abuse clearances. Able to attend out-of-town training in forensic interviewing. Must have access to a vehicle; possess a valid driver's license and proof of insurance. Position is full-time, work hours primarily 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Worker may on occasion be called in for emergency cases evenings and weekends. Worker will function under the confidentiality of the CACMC according to the standards set forth by the National Children's Alliance and the CACMC Multi-Disciplinary Team/lnteragency Protocol. The CACMC functions independently of partnering agencies and does not adhere to the confidentiality regulated under the CPSL as defined by the state of Pennsylvania.

Position Description:

Conduct forensic interviews at the request of the CACMC in a consistent manner. Demonstrates ability to quickly establish rapport with children and teens, and to utilize protocols based on best practice standards for children of all ages and ability. Conducts forensic interviews of alleged child victims of abuse that are child friendly, developmentally appropriate and culturally sensitive, objective, and legally sound. Responsible for scheduling and coordinating forensic interviews and documenting results of the interview in a timely manner using the format and standards required by CACMC policy. Assist in reviewing formats used nationally to assure that the CACMC maintains a best practice approach. Works closely with law enforcement, CPS and the prosecuting attorney in conducting forensic interviews as part of a multidisciplinary team response. Communicate interview results accurately and clearly in multidisciplinary and/or forensic settings. Offer court testimony and documentation as required. Proficient in forensic interviewing techniques to meet best practice standards, specifically in regards to sexual abuse cases. Knowledge and understanding of the forensic interview process including issues relating to language, memory and suggestibility and current legal challenges in the field. Knowledge and understanding of the investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases, specifically as it relates to the dynamics of child sexual abuse. Knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice and child welfare system. Review referrals as part of the intake and screening process at the CACMC. Scheduling forensic interviews and makes the appropriate contacts to ensure communication between multidisciplinary team members. Attend monthly multidisciplinary team meetings, participating as a team member with representatives from CPS, Police, Victims' Advocacy and other related organizations. Provide forensic and clinical information and feedback regarding children seen at the CACMC. Provide directives and insight within team setting on interviewing child victims of abuse and the investigative process pertaining specifically to the abused child and best practice in forensic interviewing. To the degree permitted by interview schedule, assist in peer review, mentoring of forensic interviewers and attend community/regional trainings. Maintain a high level of professional excellence and credible reputation among the various constituent organizations involved in the multidisciplinary team and CACMC. Actively pursue new learning in all areas related to the position. As resources permit,actively participate in State Chapter meetings, peer review, conference and workshops to maintain a high level of professional skill to comply with best practice standards. Pay:

$33,000.00 - $38,000.00 per year
