Position Summary In Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) we are seeking an Interviewer/Screener to support high-volume recruiting to support our growth initiatives. This position will be a key partner within the Talent Management team, tasked with conducting a high volume of Zoom-based screening interviews for candidates who have already applied, with a focus on assessing cultural fit and required qualifications for various fundraising and advancement positions, ranging from entry-level to director-level positions. This is a term role expected to last 6-12 months. About the Work Unit The Department of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) assists Vanderbilt University in securing the resources, both human and financial, that are required to achieve its mission and goals. The Department is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individuals and organizations whose charitable objectives are consistent with those of Vanderbilt University's teaching and research programs. DAR's university development team is responsible for seeking new resources from alumni, parents, friends, and family foundations to support key fundraising priorities. More information can be found here: https://www.vanderbilt.edu/dar/ Key Functions and Responsibilities Conduct a high volume of screening interviews via Zoom with applicants who have applied for DAR roles Evaluate candidates' alignment with key competencies, such as relationship management, solicitation readiness, portfolio experience, donor engagement, etc. Manage scheduling and interview logistics, ensuring timely follow-up and smooth handoffs to hiring managers Document results in our database, including cultural fit, job readiness, compensation requirements, and location preferences. Identify and advance qualified candidates to the next stage Disposition candidates appropriately with clear rationale Partner closely with the Talent Management team and hiring managers to calibrate on role requirements and maintain a strong candidate experience Track pipeline activity and provide updates on screening volume and candidate flow Communicate effectively with hiring managers Work Environment This is a temporary assignment lasting approximately 6-12 months. This position is open for fully remote work. Slight preference for being located in the Nashville, TN area. If working in the Nashville area, this is a hybrid role that is expected to be in the office one day per week or more depending on business needs and scheduled travel.
Supervisory Relationships:
This role will be an individual contributor with no direct reports. This role reports administratively to the Senior Director of Talent Management, but will functionally work closely with the Assistant Director, Candidate Outreach and Experience and the Assistant Director, Talent Management. Education and Certifications Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent, is required. Experience and Qualifications 2-3 years of relevant experience, or the equivalent, is required. Experience working in talent acquisition, recruiting, or screening is required, including knowledge of employment law (legal/illegal questions). Familiarity with development and alumni relations, or general advancement functions such as fundraisers/gift officers, donor relations, alumni relations, etc. is preferred but not required. Strong interviewing and candidate assessment skills; able to distinguish transferable skills and evaluate role-specific competencies Consistent, high-quality screenings with clear documentation and timely recommendations Efficient candidate flow and strong candidate experience Accurate identification of candidates likely to succeed in various roles Excellent written documentation and communication skills Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment Proficiency with Zoom Ability to maintain a high energy interview cadence with a high volume of interviews Good written and verbal communication skills Ability to articulate the mission and priorities of DAR. High level of discretion in handling confidential information. Experience collaborating across teams and disciplines to drive results. Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools. Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in an agile, growth-oriented, and fast-paced environment.
