We are looking for an experienced Family Law Legal Secretary who can step into the role with confidence and handle core family law support responsibilities with minimal supervision. Position Overview We are seeking a Family Law Legal Secretary with at least one year of family law experience . The successful candidate must be able to independently prepare family law disclosures without training. This includes preparing and organizing preliminary and final disclosures and accurately preparing Income and Expense Declarations. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced legal secretary who understands California family law procedures, is highly organized, pays close attention to detail, and can manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced law office. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently while also communicating effectively with attorneys, staff, clients, courts, and opposing counsel. Key Responsibilities Prepare, organize, proofread, and format California family law pleadings, forms, correspondence, and other legal documents. Prepare routine correspondence, client communications, and attorney-directed documents. Coordinate service of pleadings and other legal documents and maintain accurate proof of service records. File documents electronically through California court e-filing systems. Maintain organized electronic and physical case files. Calendar hearings, deadlines, response dates, and follow-up tasks. Monitor case deadlines and bring important dates and outstanding items to the attorneys' attention. Communicate professionally and courteously with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, and other legal professionals. Assist attorneys with day-to-day case management and administrative support. Review documents for accuracy, completeness, formatting, and filing requirements before submission. Follow established office procedures while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Qualifications 1-5+ years of legal secretary experience preferred Family law experience required Familiarity with California court filing and service procedures Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and PDF/document management software Professional demeanor and strong client-service mindset. This position is not intended for someone who is new to family law or who requires training on basic disclosure preparation. The ability to independently prepare family law disclosures is an important requirement of the position.
