The Program provides criminal defense, family law, and juvenile law representation to low-income clients. The Program boasts a proud history of legal services and advocacy on behalf of the Native American population. However, clients need only meet economic criteria to qualify for services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties for this position include, but are not limited to: Answering phones Typing and document creation (general correspondence, court notice letters, memos, transcripts, etc.) Dictation of written notes Client File Maintenance (file opening/closing, organization, filing of new documents, etc.) File electronic documents with the Court Completion of intakes for potential clients requesting representation Calendaring (court appearances, deadlines, etc.) Communicate with clients, attorneys, and court staff Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Secretarial experience Some knowledge of legal terminology and procedures is preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) Highly motivated and hard working Excellent oral and written communication skills Be thorough and detail-oriented Be able to operate in a fast-paced environment Be able to work independently and alongside other employees under tight deadlines Starting salary is $50,000, with opportunities for negotiation based on experience.
