  • $25 an hour 16 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Vision insurance Qualifications Paralegal Studies HIPAA Filing Attention to detail Clinical confidentiality policies Associate's degree Full Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Paralegal/Administrative Assistant to support a Forensic Psychiatrist involved in legal casework and patient care.
This is a dynamic full-time position that bridges legal case preparation with clinical office administration. The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, and thrives in a detail-oriented, confidential work environment. Key ResponsibilitiesLegal Assistant (Forensic Psychiatry), approximately 20 hrs/week Assist with casework for forensic psychiatric evaluations and legal proceedings. Review and summarize medical, psychiatric, lab, pharmacy, and other healthcare records. Analyze court dockets, correctional documents, and inmate records (e.g., disciplinary actions, phone transcripts). Create record summaries and medical chronologies for use in expert reports. Review and take notes on case-related photos, videos, and audio materials. Coordinate with attorneys to request missing documentation and facilitate case preparation. Edit and proofread expert witness reports prior to submission. Schedule and manage meetings with attorneys, including depositions and interviews. Administrative Assistant (Clinical Office), approximately 20 hrs/week Manage provider schedule and patient appointments Set up and confirm telehealth appointments. Prepare charts and progress notes ahead of visits. Coordinate care and communication between the office, patients, and referring physicians. Order and log lab tests; file and organize chart documentation. Document patient phone calls, consents, and external communications. Manage medication-related tasks (e-prescribing, coordination with patient and pharmacy, prior authorizations). Respond to patient inquiries and assist with insurance or pharmacy issues. Process inbound communications (calls, emails, provider requests) in a timely and confidential manner. Qualifications Required Minimum 2 years of paralegal experience. Paralegal certificate or Associate degree in Paralegal Studies. Strong written communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities. Adherence to strict confidentiality standards. Problem-solving skills and initiative. Preferred Prior experience in a medical or mental health setting. Familiarity with electronic health records (AdvancedMD) and HIPAA compliance.
