Job Description

Overview The Dallas, TX office of Lewis Brisbois, a full-service AmLaw 100 firm, is seeking a senior-level legal secretary with litigation experience. The primary responsibilities of this position include working for a minimum of (4) attorneys. Essential functions include docketing, scheduling of appointments including travel, depositions, and various meetings, filings and serving documents both state and federal, creating legal documents, opening new matters and processing various financial related tasks. Responsibilities Job Specifications/Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent, with least three (3) to four (4) years of legal experience (General Civil Litigation or trial prep preferred; additional background in Consumer Financial Services, Bankruptcy or Commercial Litigation) Independently file and serve pleadings, motions, responses and discovery vis e-service in Texas State and Federal courts (including Notice of Removal, Dispositive Motions like Rule 12 and Summary Judgement, and Discovery Motions) Manage Calendars, travel, appointments, depositions, and hearings with little guidance, tracking strict state, federal, local and judge-specific discovery and response deadlines, and coordinating hearing settings with court personnel. Prepare shells of pleadings, discovery requests, responses, Notice of Deposition, and Subpoenas from templates (including Answers, Notice of Removal, Motions, Notices of Hearing and Proposed Orders). Coordinate service of subpoenas with process servers/vendors, Bates label and produce documents, and prepare Table of Contents, Table of Authorities and hearing binders.
Handle document production and logistics:
order court reporters, interpreters, videographers and conference rooms as needed. Proofread pleadings and correspondence for typos, spelling, and grammatical errors with high attention to detail, maintaining comfort formatting documents in MS Word. Draft correspondence and communicate directly, effectively, and professionally with opposing parties, courts and clients. Perform general administrative and financial tasks: answer phones, handle incoming/outgoing mail, open new matters, close files, and process check requests, expense reimbursements, and invoices. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, familiarity with basic legal terminology and processes (depositions, mediations), and ability to work independently with little supervision. Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to maintain a positive, professional demeanor under tight deadlines, handle confidential information, work in a fast-paced environment and willingly learn new firm or attorney preferences.
