Job Description

Provide administrative support to prosecutors in the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office. This includes document management, scheduling and calendar management, maintenance and/or utilization of multiple computer databases, communicate with other departments, agencies and the public and other general administrative duties.

•Hours Required for this position: 40~ Document management: drafting, typing, editing, proofreading and formatting legal documents; organizing and maintaining case files ~ Scheduling and calendar management: managing attorney calendars, scheduling appointments and court hearings ~ Utilize multiple databases including case management, criminal records and law enforcement reports ~ Communicate professionally with other departments, agencies and the public, including answering phones. ~ Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

Education:
Required:

Education equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by college level courses in office administration, law or related field.

Experience:
Required:

Experience with administrative tasks in an office environment.

Preferred:

Experience as a legal assistant or paralegal.

Certifications/Licenses:

None required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Strong organizational and time management skills. Detailed knowledge of Virginia criminal law and procedure. Excellent communication skills. Strong work ethic. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public. Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office, computer case management systems and other databases.
