Job Description
Legal Secretary — Charleston, WV August 18, 2026 Are you looking for a career where you can become a member of a dynamic team of legal professionals? If so, keep reading. Bowles Rice, an established law firm that encourages innovative thinking and fresh ideas with offices throughout West Virginia, Virginia, and Pennsylvania, is seeking an experienced and motivated legal secretary to join our Charleston office energy and real estate group. Do you want to become a member of our team? Under the direction of attorneys and paralegals, the legal secretary will perform file management tasks, interact daily with lenders, real estate agents, buyers, and sellers to coordinate closing appointments and obtain additional documentation, maintain calendars, monitor deadlines, type correspondence, prepare documents, and perform general office tasks. The ideal candidate will have experience in the residential and/or commercial real estate title industry and will have a general understanding of the real estate closing process from start to finish. Knowledge of real estate software such as Softpro and Docusign and experience preparing real estate title documents is preferred. The successful candidate must also have strong verbal and written communication skills, typing, proofreading and organizational skills with proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook). Attention to detail, initiative as well as the ability to convey information effectively and to work efficiently with a heavy workload in a fast-paced environment are key to the success of this position. Successful candidates will also demonstrate strong logical reasoning and problem-solving skills and the ability to work as a team, learn new skills, and retain information. Must be able to pass all background screening, including criminal.
