Duties Accurately input patient charges into billing software and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems using current medical coding standards such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes. Submit healthcare claims efficiently to insurance companies, government programs, and patients while ensuring compliance with healthcare claims management protocols. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective collection strategies, including patient outreach and insurance appeals. Review medical records and documentation to verify coding accuracy and completeness for billing purposes. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses or procedures when necessary to facilitate accurate billing. Maintain detailed records of billing activities, collections, and correspondence related to patient accounts. Stay updated on changes in medical coding regulations, insurance policies, and billing software enhancements to optimize workflow. Requirements Proven experience in medical billing, charge entry, or medical collections within a healthcare setting. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and coding systems including

CPT, ICD-9/10, ICD

coding, DRG classifications, and HCPCS codes. Familiarity with billing software platforms and EMR/EHR systems used in healthcare practices. Excellent understanding of health insurance processes, coverage policies, and healthcare claims management procedures. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting purposes.
