Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Biller, where your expertise will drive the financial health of our medical practice. In this vital role, you will manage the entire billing process, ensuring accurate coding, timely submission of claims, and effective follow-up on outstanding balances. Your attention to detail and knowledge of medical billing procedures will help optimize revenue cycles and enhance patient satisfaction. Duties Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using current CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) coding standards. Review medical records and documentation to ensure proper coding for diagnoses and procedures. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective communication with insurance companies and patients. Maintain detailed records of billing transactions, payments, adjustments, and collections within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Collaborate with medical staff to clarify documentation discrepancies and improve billing accuracy. Monitor accounts receivable to identify overdue payments and initiate collection efforts for outstanding balances. Stay updated on changes in medical coding regulations, insurance policies, and billing best practices to ensure compliance. Qualifications Proven experience in medical billing, with familiarity in medical coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG systems. Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and billing procedures. Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for billing and record keeping. Knowledge of medical collection processes and insurance claim submission protocols. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to review complex documentation accurately. Effective communication skills for interacting with insurance providers, patients, and healthcare staff. Prior experience in a medical office environment is preferred; certification in medical billing or coding is a plus.
