The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing, insurance reimbursement, claims processing, and patient account management, along with excellent communication and organizational skills. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manage all aspects of the medical billing and reimbursement process. Submit medical claims accurately and timely to insurance carriers through electronic and paper submission methods. Coding and entering hospital charges. Monitor and follow up on outstanding insurance claims to ensure timely reimbursement. Research, analyze, and resolve insurance claim denials and rejected claims. Identify and correct billing errors and discrepancies. Verify insurance benefits and eligibility as needed. Obtain precertification and prior authorization for procedures and obstetrical (OB) care from insurance carriers, as needed. Communicate effectively with insurance companies, healthcare providers, coworkers, and patients regarding billing and reimbursement matters. Maintain accurate and confidential patient billing information in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Assist with resolving patient billing questions and account concerns. Prioritize daily billing responsibilities while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of accuracy. Perform other billing and administrative duties as assigned. Qualifications and Skills Minimum of 2 years of medical insurance and/or patient billing experience in a physician office or medical office setting. Strong understanding of medical billing and the insurance reimbursement process. Working knowledge of ICD-10 diagnosis codes and CPT procedure codes . Experience with insurance claims submission, follow-up, denials, appeals, and payment resolution. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy requirements. Experience with eClinicalWorks (ECW) or similar medical billing/EHR software is preferred. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with providers, coworkers, insurance carriers, and patients. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced medical office environment. Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team. Previous medical billing experience is required.
