In this role, you will be responsible for accurately coding medical procedures and diagnoses, processing insurance claims, and ensuring timely reimbursement for healthcare services. Responsibilities Review and interpret medical records to assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and DRG codes in compliance with medical coding guidelines. Prepare and submit accurate electronic health record (EHR) and electronic medical record (EMR) billing claims to insurance companies and third-party payers. Verify patient insurance coverage, process health insurance claims, and follow up on unpaid or denied claims to facilitate prompt payment. Ensure all billing activities adhere to healthcare regulations, including HIPAA privacy standards and medical records management protocols. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation for proper coding and billing accuracy. Maintain detailed records of billing transactions, claim status updates, and payment histories within billing software systems. Stay current with changes in medical coding guidelines, ICD-10 updates, and health insurance policies to ensure compliance and optimize reimbursement processes. Qualifications Proven experience in medical office settings with a solid understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and billing procedures. Strong knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-10), CPT coding, DRG classifications, and coding for inpatient services. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems, billing software platforms, and revenue cycle management tools. Preferred experiance in EPIC. Comprehensive understanding of health insurance claim processing, third-party billing practices, and insurance verification procedures. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately. Knowledge of medical coding guidelines and compliance standards essential for accurate coding and billing practices. Effective communication skills to collaborate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients as needed.
