We are seeking a detail-oriented Biller & Authorization Specialist with proven experience in neurosurgical procedure coding to join our team. This role ensures timely insurance authorizations, accurate

CPT/ICD-10

coding for complex neurosurgical cases, and smooth coordination between clinical and billing teams. This is a part-time role with flexibility to choose hours/days during the normal business times.

Key Responsibilities:

Obtain prior authorizations for neurosurgical procedures from insurance providers. Accurately code neurosurgeries using CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS guidelines. Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits. Complete surgical cost analysis forms and provide cost estimates for patient collections prior to surgery. Document authorizations and update patient records with authorization progress. Collaborate with neurosurgeons, schedulers, and billing staff to ensure documentation accuracy. Assist surgery schedulers with urgent (STAT) authorizations. Maintain compliance with HIPAA and payer-specific requirements.

Qualifications:

2+ years of experience in medical insurance authorization, preferably in neurosurgery or other surgical specialties. Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent credential preferred. Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems, with emphasis on neurosurgical codes. Detail-oriented with excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Pay:

$21.00 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 5.0 - 15.0 per week
