Job Overview:
Under the direction of the Revenue Cycle Manager, the Charge Capture Specialist is responsible for reviewing all
CINJ/RWJBH
Medical Oncology and Hematology medical record and add all appropriate charges, make additions and deletions to the charges as necessary and update the financial system, also monitor and correct charge exceptions, delinquent data, and discharges.
Qualifications:
Required:
Experience in charge capture, chart review, ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS coding and billing and reimbursement knowledge surrounding UB-04 claim submission. Minimum of 2-5 years of facility and/or practice billing experience. Effective communication, analytical, organizational skills. Medical terminology knowledge
Preferred:
Certified Coding Specialist (CSS), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC). Understands charging process and compliance issues and has the ability to provide resolution with the assistance and guidance of the Revenue Cycle Manager. Demonstrates knowledge of proficiency of standard PC word processing, spreadsheets (Word and Excel).
Scheduling Requirements:
Day shift, 7:30am-4:00pm Monday through Friday Full-Time, 40 hours per week
Essential Functions:
Reviews ARIA
  • schedules daily for accuracy and completion of documentation. Compare and reconcile from Financial System with ARIA Review the ARIA
  • and PowerBI
  • patient report on a daily basis. Reports will need to be referenced as the charge capture specialist applies appropriate E/M level in the Financial System. Enters and reconciles charges for CINJ
  • outpatients and released accounts the day after the ED outpatient visit.
Verify every patient has a E&M level of care or procedure. Responsible for timely correction made on all charts that are missing charges or need corrections. Works collaboratively with CINJ Professional Billing Managerfor follow-up on missing physician documentation and unsigned nurse's notes. Maintains strong knowledge of ARIA
  • and Optimum
  • applications.
Attends to and resolves issues indicated on nThrive, Charge Capture Audit, grids and other edit applications related to ER accounts Analyzes manual and computer reports to identify problem areas such as accounts holding on DNFB that should have been billed but were not due to inaccurate or missing information Responsible for supporting hospital charge capture and revenue improvement initiatives Understands the importance of Communication and follows up with electronic and voice messages to/from staff. Maintains confidentiality of patients information at all times Demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical terminology, ask questions to clarify misunderstandings. Assist Revenue Cycle Managerwith special projects needed. Supports and enhances the compliance efforts of the hospital by adhering to the regulatory, departmental and organizational guidelines relating to charging for services Uses billing expertise to compare the medical record documentation, billing system and patient account charge detail in Optimum
  • to the individual items billed.
Works well independently in remote office and is available during scheduled work hours.

Scheduled work hours will be a combination of working from home and on site. Must possess the ability to organize work effectively, manage multiple concurrent priorities with competing deadlines and pay careful attention to detail and presentation.
