Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Specialist and Medical Biller, where you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless delivery of durable medical equipment and accurate processing of medical billing. In this energetic position, you will coordinate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to facilitate the proper documentation, billing, and authorization processes. Your expertise will help improve patient outcomes by ensuring timely access to essential medical equipment while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and policies. Duties Verify insurance coverage and benefits for durable medical equipment requests, including insurance prior authorizations and eligibility checks. Manage electronic health records (EHR) and medical records with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring all documentation complies with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies. Utilize CPT coding, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems accurately for billing purposes, ensuring correct reimbursement from managed care organizations and insurance providers. Process medical billing claims efficiently using specialized software, ensuring accuracy in coding and adherence to health insurance policies. Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to resolve billing issues or discrepancies promptly. Conduct insurance verification procedures to confirm coverage for durable medical equipment before delivery or service provision. Maintain comprehensive records of all transactions, authorizations, and correspondence related to medical billing and equipment requests. Stay current on industry regulations related to HIPAA compliance, medical coding updates, and managed care policies to ensure ongoing compliance. Qualifications Proven experience in a medical office setting with a focus on durable medical equipment or medical billing. Strong knowledge of health insurance policies, managed care processes, and insurance prior authorization procedures. Proficiency in CPT coding, ICD-10 coding systems, and ICD coding standards for accurate billing. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) management systems and Microsoft Office applications. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients, providers, and insurers. Knowledge of clinical confidentiality policies such as HIPAA to safeguard patient information at all times. Ability to interpret medical terminology accurately and apply it effectively within billing documentation. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail necessary for managing multiple claims and documentation workflows efficiently.
