As a Medical Biller, you will be responsible for accurately processing and submitting medical claims to insurance companies, ensuring timely reimbursement for medical services rendered. About the role Texas Pain and Spine Physicians PLLC, a solo interventional pain management practice in Round Rock, is hiring a full-time, in-office certified coder to own coding accuracy, denial prevention, and appeals for our procedural claims. This is a hands-on role with direct ownership of outcomes — not a shared or pooled coding position. commensurate with certification and pain-management coding experience Review and verify patient demographic and insurance information for accuracy and completeness. Utilize the Athena medical billing software to generate and submit electronic claims to insurance companies. Follow up on unpaid claims and denials, investigating and resolving billing issues to ensure maximum reimbursement. Review Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements and insurance correspondence to identify discrepancies and take appropriate actions. Accurately post payments and adjustments received from insurance companies and patients into the billing system. Generate patient statements, review outstanding balances, and follow up with patients on outstanding payments. Maintain knowledge of medical coding systems, such as CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS, to ensure accurate claim submission. Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain any necessary documentation or clarification for claim submission. Stay up to date on insurance regulations, reimbursement guidelines, and industry changes affecting medical billing practices. Provide excellent customer service to patients, insurance companies, and internal staff regarding billing inquiries and concerns. Assist with other administrative tasks related to medical billing and revenue cycle management, as needed. Familiar with the prior -authorization process for procedures.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (associate's degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred). Proven experience as a Medical Biller, preferably using the AdvancedMD and Athena medical billing software. Solid understanding of medical billing processes, including claim submission, payment posting, and denial management. Proficient in medical coding systems (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) and billing regulations. Familiarity with insurance guidelines, reimbursement policies, and industry best practices. Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately review and analyze billing data. Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain billing concepts to patients and insurance representatives. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities to resolve billing issues and discrepancies. Proficient in using computer systems, including electronic health record (EHR) and medical billing software.
