In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accurate coding and timely submission of claims, and actively pursuing outstanding payments. Your expertise will help optimize revenue cycles, improve cash flow, and enhance patient satisfaction. Responsibilities Prepare and submit accurate medical claims using billing software, EMR (Electronic Medical Records), and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems Review medical records to ensure proper documentation for ICD (International Classification of Diseases), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), and ICD 10 codes. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims by sending out appeals and reconsiderations. Collect outstanding balances from patients through e-statements. Maintain detailed records of billing activities, payment histories, and correspondence in compliance with healthcare regulations. Stay updated on changes in health insurance policies, medical coding guidelines, and healthcare claims management procedures. Assist with reconciling accounts receivable and generating reports to monitor collection progress and identify areas for improvement Requirements Proven experience in medical billing, coding, with familiarity in ICD-10 and CPT coding. Strong knowledge of health insurance processes, medical terminology, and medical records documentation Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Word as well as billing software platforms. Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for accurate data entry and claim processing Experience working with Availity, UHC and Cigna portals. Ability verify insurance benefits accurately.
