Court Supervisor Summary Description This is an entry-level position responsible for performing a wide variety of complex legal clerical duties related to cases filed with the Monroe County circuit or county courts. The Deputy Court Clerk is responsible for coordination and maintenance of case data. The Deputy Court Clerk may be assigned to work in the courtroom with the Judge. Tasks Maintains the Clerk's Odyssey Case Management System or Landmark System. Disseminates information regarding the rules and procedures of the Monroe County courts by responding to inquiries and distributing court records, court orders and other legal materials to appropriate court officials, attorneys, media and interested persons. Works on special projects and assignments as directed. Performs cashiering function. Provides back-up, as directed, in the absence of other deputy court clerks. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge and Abilities Required Ability to use Word processing and enter, retrieve, and manage data into the case management system. Record keeping skills. Ability to obtain an understanding of needed clerical functions and court operations. Knowledge of business English and mathematics. Ability to maintain close attention to details. Ability to perform simple math including ability to perform the cashiering function. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the general public. Education and Experience Required High school graduate or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. License and/or Certificates Required None Discretion It is essential that this position follows established guidelines, rules and procedures when handling civil court records. A Deputy Court Clerk performs his/her tasks with limited supervision. Contacts Works closely and on a routine basis with the Court Manager, the Court Supervisor, the judiciary and their staff, and other Deputy Court Clerks. In addition, a Deputy Court Clerk has ongoing contact with attorneys, litigants, and the general public. Supervisory Authority None.
