The DME Assistant will be responsible to delivering and fitting braces as well as providing high quality customer service and will report to the DME Supervisor. This is an integral role in the DME department to assist patients that undergo a surgical program with bracing/ equipment and educational resources to ensure high quality health care and improved surgical outcomes.
Position :
DME Assistant Essential Job Responsibilities:
Provides brace delivery, fitting and education to post-surgical patients; benefiting the patients recovery and overall customer service experience. Provide fitting, patient education on application, use, care, and expected outcome for products as indicated by the physician instructions and manufacturer recommendations Track, maintain, and order inventory for office location. Insure that all necessary documentation and authorization is obtained as it relates to payer requirements. Educate patients on insurance plans and provisions, financial responsibility, and collection of patient portion. Actively promote and foster good relations inter-departmentally and with patients, payers, suppliers, physician, clinical and surgery personnel.Requirements:
Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices Knowledge of basic medical terminology, anatomy and physiology Knowledge of insurance claims and insurance benefits Excellent skills in verbal and written communication and patient care Skill in decision making and time management Ability to manipulate reports and understand payables, trend denials, etc Ability to learn and operate inventory management system Ability to organize multiple projects and assignments at once Ability to deal courteously with patients, staff, and physicians and vendorsEducational Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent Some college preferred but not required; Strong computer skills; Customer service background; Preferred orthopedic medical experience Independent and motivated work ethic; Time management; Reliable transportation. Clean Driving Record.Physical Requirements :
Involves standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping. Employee must be able to lift or move items weighing 20 lbs or more.Work Location:
