Job Description

The Dougherty County Clerk of Courts is hiring for a Principal Court Clerk. The purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the State and Superior Court Judges.

This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
  • Performs routine office tasks such as answering telephones, data entry, filling out forms, and filing for assigned area of responsibility.
  • Interact with customers by telephone, answering inquiries and directing complaints and problems to appropriate personnel.
  • Enters data into computer database; prepares monthly reports.
  • Compiles, designs, and types newsletters, fliers and other various documents.
  • Officially records County documents.
  • Receives civil filings and associated fees for processing.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of clerical experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
  • Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
