Job Description
This position is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the Juvenile Court Clerk's Office and Juvenile Court operations. Receives court actions for processing; processes each accepted case by entering all data elements into a computerized court management system; assigns judges and case numbers; identifies each type of juvenile action based upon substance and statutory procedural requirements; determines if venue and jurisdictional requirements have been met; tracks cases to ensure successful processing; accepts or rejects each action submitted based upon completion and submission of all legal requirements and mandatory documents. Attends Juvenile Court hearings, arraignments, probation revocations, and verdicts; coordinates courtroom activities with the judge, attorneys, and other participants. Prepares and files withdrawal of complaint letters for petitioners as needed. Answers telephone; researches and responds to inquiries about various court procedures; assists attorneys, judges, and the general public. Prepares and drafts various reports as requested or required. Receives, receipts, records, verifies, and submits fines, fees, costs, and other monies received by the court; disburses restitution payments; enters payment information into the system and posts to the proper case file. Pulls cases and delivers to judges; pulls records and makes certified copies. Enters legal documents, fees, restitution, records, parental notifications, traffic citations and fines, juvenile complaints, payments, and bonds into the computer. Assists the public at the counter; answers the telephone; picks up and delivers mail to and from the mail room; sorts mail and distributes it to appropriate personnel. Accepts and negotiates payment schedules for the collection of Juvenile Court fees. Files juvenile records, traffic cards, and restitution cards. Compiles juvenile information from police complaints and reports for dissemination to the Department of Juvenile Justice. Processes evaluation for termination of probation in Juvenile Court cases.
