Description Chatham County Probate Court is seeking a detail-oriented, customer-focused professional to join our team as a Deputy Court Clerk II. This position offers the opportunity to serve the public while performing a variety of court-related clerical duties, processing legal documents, assisting court operations, and providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment. Examples of Duties Perform routine clerical work relating to the operation of courts. Safeguard evidence and attend court. Process case files, applications, licenses, and other legal documents in accordance with related laws and guidelines, including warrants, garnishments, interrogatories, criminal files, civil files, pistol permits, marriage licenses, automobile abandonments, criminal sentence orders, adult guardianships, estate proceedings, and other related legal documents. Use your communication and customer service skills as you assist the public by phone and in person. Must be able to perform work in stressful situations. May be required to work on weekends and after hours. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED, and At least one (1) year of experience as a Deputy Court Clerk I, other court-related position, or general clerical work; or Any equivalent combination of training and experience. Must be able to type a minimum of 25 words per minute. Selected candidates will be required to complete keyboarding and clerical testing during the interview process. During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team. In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing. Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
