Job Description
The city of Americus, Kansas, a city of 887 residents, is accepting applications for qualified candidates who are positive, outgoing, and energetic to fill the Deputy Clerk/Treasurer position. Americus is located North/West of Emporia in Lyon County. The Assistant City Clerk/Treasurer will perform various responsible, confidential, and complex administrative, technical, and clerical duties in support of the City Clerk including licenses and permits, utility services, and facility rentals. This position maintains the City's newsletter under the direction of the City Clerk; assists the City Clerk with questions received via email, telephone, and walk-in traffic; and fulfills the duties and responsibilities of the City Clerk in that individual's absence. Approximately 15-20 hours per week. The starting wage is based on experience. A background in municipal financial management, knowledge of QuickBooks & Publisher, and excellent organizational and communication skills are a plus. Must be able to be bonded.
