DOUGLAS COUNTY DISTRICT COURT
Seventh Judicial District Judicial Center, 111 E. 11 th St. Lawrence, Kansas 66044-2966 Douglas County District Court Assistant District Court Trustee Summary of Duties and Responsibilities This is a full-time attorney position. Attorney is responsible for enforcing and collecting child and spousal support orders issued in Douglas County domestic cases. Duties also include reviewing and modifying child support orders; meeting with pro se litigants or retained counsel regarding child support or spousal support related issues; preparing discovery requests, pleadings, child support worksheets and preparing cases for and attending weekly trial docket. The attorney must maintain a working relationship with paralegals and court staff and must be able to calmly work with diverse members of the public in routine and difficult situations. Required Qualifications Must be an attorney in good standing and licensed to practice law in Kansas. Applicant must possess a thorough knowledge of domestic law issues, specifically in support matters; have knowledge of judicial procedures and the rules of evidence and the Kansas Child Support Guidelines; excellent legal research, writing, analytic and communication skills and excellent customer service skills with a desire to serve the public. 2 years of litigation experience in domestic law or 2 years support enforcement experience is preferred.
Starting Date:
October 12, 2026, or as soon thereafter as practical.

Office of the Douglas County District Court Trustee, 111 East 11 th Street, Unit 101, Lawrence, KS 66044
Starting Salary Range:
$81,097 to $89,426 depending on experience, with benefits and health insurance through Douglas County and the Kansas Personnel Retirement System. This is a County funded Court position but subject to the State of Kansas Judicial Branch Personnel Rules.
