Job Description

The Schoolcraft County Court has an opening for a part-time Clerk/Deputy Probate Register at the Schoolcraft County Courthouse. This position is for 21 hours per week. The starting wage for this position is $20.83 per hour and includes a pro-rated benefits package. This position is responsible for the following but not limited to: maintain court schedules and case files, daily mail, daily reports, meetings, and daily cash balancing. The duties will require you to become familiar with the different types of cases processed through the Probate Court and its case management system. The correct candidate should be able to prepare, proofread, and format correspondence, reports, and court orders. Answer and direct phone calls, emails, window traffic, and other communications with professionalism and warmth. Maintain organized filing systems—both digital and physical—for easy access to important documents and court files. Coordinate with other employees regarding lunch break, time off, meetings, and trainings. Support scheduled court days by gathering information, preparing summaries, prepping court files, and liaising with attorneys. Accept payments for court filings, fines, restitution, and bond.
