Description

OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF JOB

To perform clerical and administrative duties for the Sewage Office and other City offices as assigned, including processing business licenses and permits, maintaining records, processing payments, and assisting with sewage billing and collections.

Essential functions of job:

Processes business licenses, alarm permits, signs, plumbers, gaming machines, etc. - This involves reviewing applications for completeness, accuracy, and eligibility based on established criteria. Must verify information provided by applicants against official records, databases, or other sources. This may include checking for valid identification, verifying addresses, and confirming prior licenses or permits. Performs general office duties, i.e., typing, answering phones, waiting on customers at window, business, filing, and other duties as required.

Communicates with applicants and the public regarding licensing and permit requirements, applications, documentation, and fees.

Prepares lien letters, delinquent notices, and other business correspondence.

Maintains and processes Street Break billing in accordance with applicable City ordinances.

Maintains accurate customer files, records, and documentation.

Assists with monthly sewage billing and mailing, payment processing, and other routine Sewage Office functions.

Assists other City offices and departments as needed, including meeting minutes, time-off tracking, and filing.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Supervision received:

Receives instruction and supervision from the Sewage Office Supervisor regarding daily duties, priorities, procedures, and responsibilities.

Supervision given:

None Working conditions: Works indoors in a typical office environment with exposure to noise, interruptions, public interaction, dust, and dirt.

Work may involve routine stress and frequent interaction with the public.

Physical/mental conditions:

Ability to communicate, explain procedures, follow instructions, and maintain attention to detail.

Ability to sit for extended periods, with occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, and twisting.

Sedentary work with occasional lifting and carrying of objects up to 10 pounds.

Ability to concentrate and manage interruptions and competing priorities.

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations accurately.

Qualifications/Education/Training:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Clerical or computer training preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Ability to speak and understand English sufficiently to perform essential job duties.

Ability to work independently and effectively with customers, applicants, co-workers, and the public.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of customer and City information.

Proficiency with computers and standard office equipment.

General knowledge of clerical, standard office procedures, excel, word, and filing.

Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.

Ability to learn and apply City ordinances, policies, procedures, licensing requirements, billing procedures, and computer systems.
