Municipal Court Technician
Job Description
SUMMARY The Municipal Court Technician provides quality customer service while performing clerical duties in the Municipal Court. The Technician must be able to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers, provide courteous customer service, and possess the ability to remain professional while dealing with all individuals. Each employee must represent the Municipal Court by making ethical decisions in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas and the ordinances of the City of Angleton with prudence, integrity, and an impartial manner.

Maintain the Municipal Court database accurately and efficiently, including monitoring and updating the case status as it proceeds through the judicial system. Assist with data entry of citations and all other complaints filed in the court. Record case dispositions, court orders, and arraignments for payment of court fines. Receive and process cash bond payments along with all other jail documents and paperwork from the Police Department. Follow procedures as scheduled, including preparing an accurate arraignment docket and preparing and mailing court date and default notices. Process incoming mail daily. Communicates effectively and courteously with customers in person, in writing, by telephone, and via email. Maintains and files all pending and closed cases. Maintains and balances the cash drawer daily. Notifies defendants and jurors of court appearances. Demonstrates management and organizational skills and can prioritize work assignments with accuracy and attention to detail. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; accurate keyboarding skills required, with the ability to type to touch and operate a 10-key calculator. Apply current knowledge of municipal court functions and procedures. Demonstrate strong interpersonal and oral communication skills to interact with the general public daily in a pleasant and professional manner; excellent written communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively and courteously with customers and co-workers. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress, and challenging environment. Ability to handle confidential information responsibly. Must be dependable; regular attendance is essential to the job. Abide by the Court Clerk Code of Ethics.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) Two (2) years of general business with clerical experience required. One (1) year of cashier/teller experience or any other position consistently dealing with money Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills are a plus. Municipal court clerk experience is desired.
REQUIRED LICENSE
Texas Class "C" Driver's License in good standing.

Occasionally required to reach, reach overhead, stoop, bend, squat, and lift up to 30 lbs. Must be able to communicate orally and in writing in English.
