Position Summary:
  • Maintain the official record of the criminal/civil court, files cases and prepare pre-trial and trial dockets.
  • Monitor all open criminal & civil cases to ensure appropriate disposition occurs.
  • Perform general clerical work and handle correspondence to jurors, attorneys, defendants and other interested parties as required.
  • Answer multi-line telephone in a professional & timely manner, screen and handles calls as appropriate.
  • Greet the public and assist as appropriate, redirecting if necessary.
  • Assist in the receipt and deposit of monies collected during the day and prepare appropriate receipts and associated reports.
  • Prepare warrants, court notices, and other documents as directed.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial, statistical and other reports as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED (minimum).
  • Must be bondable and pass criminal background check.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Special Requirements

Special Skills Required:
  • Computer knowledge and skills in word processing necessary.
  • Basic bookkeeping and telephone answering skills required.
  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment and be familiar with general office practices and procedures.
  • Must be able to organize effectively and efficiently, work under pressure, handle a variety of tasks daily and prioritize effectively.
  • Knowledge of Texas laws, codes and statutes would be preferred.
  • Must maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include sitting for extended periods of time, walking, standing, and stooping during assigned activities, lifting & carrying materials up to 20lbs.
  • Attend court clerk school yearly.
