- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required
- Existing incumbents as of 3/1/24 must obtain BSN within 3 years of this date Experience
- 3 years of acute care charge or supervisory experience required
- Critical care or emergency department nursing experience may be required in acute care environments
- Progressive leadership experience Licensure, Certification, Registration
- Active Registered Nurse license from the State of Connecticut required
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) provider credentialed form the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) provider credentialed form the American Heart Association (AHA) required for acute hospitals, and preferred for BHN locations
- Other certifications may be required by specialty Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements
- Broad knowledge of nursing standards and practices.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of nursing and healthcare administration.
- Considerable knowledge of requirements by federal, state or regulatory bodies.
- Knowledge of all relevant policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge of effective workforce utilization.
- Strong ability to coordinate, plan and direct multi-faceted operation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with departments, employees, physicians, managers, other agencies and the public.
- Ability to work collaboratively with all departments.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated management and leadership skills.
- Requires the ability to take the appropriate action in response to changes, circumstances or problems.
- Strong ability to exercise discretion and use good judgment.
- Strong ability to problem solve and make decisions in a fast-paced environment and in emergency situations.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
