May 15, 2026 Position Summary Skycrest United Methodist Church is seeking a part-time Office Manager/Bookkeeper to join our growing church community. This combined role is responsible for the smooth day-to-day administrative operations of the church as well as the full management of its financial records and bookkeeping functions. The position is 25 hours per week and requires someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic about supporting the mission of the church. Work Schedule & Structure This position is 25 hours per week (non-exempt), worked Monday through Thursday in the church office. The schedule will be determined in coordination with the Pastor. Rate This position pays $20.00/hr, commensurate with experience Working Relationship The Office Manager/Bookkeeper is directly accountable to the Pastor and the Leadership Board of the church. Areas of Responsibility Administrative & Office Management Manage and maintain the church's master calendar and scheduling for all events, staff, and facility use Serve as the primary point of contact for all office communications, including phone, email, and in-person inquiries Order and maintain office and facility supplies Create and distribute church communications, including newsletters, bulletins, and promotional materials Coordinate appointments and communication with vendors for maintenance, repairs, and other services Complete and file Conference and District paperwork and reports in a timely manner Maintain accurate membership and congregational records Serve as the primary point of contact for renters and groups using the church facility Provide general staff support and coordination as needed Bookkeeping & Financial Management Record all funds received by the church, including weekly in-person offerings and online donations, and provide regular financial updates to staff and leadership Record pledges as received during the annual pledge campaign and respond to donor inquiries regarding giving records Work with occasional large donors on transfers of stocks or estate gifts Process biweekly payroll through Paychex and maintain accurate employee records Pay all bills and fees in a timely manner Reconcile accounts and keep the budget updated on a regular basis Assist with financial forms required by the District, Conference, government, and other entities Oversee volunteer check signers and money counters in accordance with financial oversight policies Ensure compliance with financial policies, maintain strict confidentiality, and coordinate regular internal and external audits Qualifications The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about the mission of our growing church and able to work collaboratively with staff and church leadership.
The following qualifications are sought:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent Strong organizational and time management skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Preferred:
Bookkeeping experience, accounting/finance degree, and/or CPA certification Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online Experience with Paychex payroll processing Familiarity with Breeze church database management software Knowledge of IRS regulations as they apply to churches Comfort with social media platforms for church communications Other responsibilities may be assigned as the needs of the church evolve.
