Legal Secretary / Office Manager Law Offices Of Michael T. SawyierChesterton, Indiana Full-Time | Monday-Friday | 12:00 PM-5:00 PM Michael T. Sawyier, an attorney of more than fifty (50) years of full-time professional experience, whose professional qualifications are rated "AV/Preeminent" by Martindale - Hubbell, is seeking to employ on a long-term basis the full-time services of a Legal Secretary/Office Manager to oversee the daily administration of a well-established solo law practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished legal secretary who enjoys taking personal responsibility for consistently excellent office work and becoming an indispensable part of a successful law practice. Our office primarily handles estate planning, trusts and probate, and business law matters, while also representing clients in several additional areas of practice. We are not seeking someone who simply completes assigned tasks. We are looking for someone who naturally notices what needs to be done, manages priorities independently, and takes pride in maintaining an organized and efficient legal office. Responsibilities Prepare legal correspondence, pleadings, contracts, and other legal documents Manage attorney calendar, scheduling, and deadlines Maintain client files and office records Conduct legal and factual research Communicate with clients, courts, title companies, lenders, and opposing counsel Handle client billing, invoicing, and accounts receivable Oversee all day-to-day office administration Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in every aspect of the practice Qualifications Excellent organizational and communication skills Strong legal research abilities Ability to prioritize multiple matters simultaneously High attention to detail Professional judgment and discretion Ability to work independently Reciprocal personal loyalty between employee and employer Our Ideal Candidate This position is best suited for someone who enjoys responsibility and takes initiative. The successful applicant will become the organizational backbone of the office, allowing the attorney to devote his time to practicing law rather than managing administrative matters.
