Job Description
Equipment Delivery & Shop Assistant Pay:
$18.00 - $22.00 per hourJOB DESCRIPTION BASIC FUNCTION
The primary function of this position is the pickup, delivery, and transportation of equipment, tools, and supplies between company locations and jobsites. The Shop Assistant will work under the direction of the Assistant Operations Manager / Shop Manager and Shop Mechanic (WHO??) to support daily shop operations, equipment maintenance activities, and overall shop efficiency. This position requires a self-motivated individual who can work independently and remain productive during downtime between deliveries. Duties include assisting with cleaning and organizing the shop and yard equipment and supplies. The Shop Assistant is also responsible for sustaining productivity, maintain a safe work environment, and perform other related duties as assigned. This position spends a significant portion of the workday driving company vehicles and transporting equipment between jobsites, vendors, repair facilities, and company locations. Candidates must be comfortable driving regularly and working independently throughout the day.REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Shop Assistant reports directly to the Shop Manager. The Shop Assistant works under the daily direction of the Shop Mechanic when assisting with shop operations in between deliveries.RESPONSIBILITIES
Safely transport equipment, tools, parts, and materials between company locations, jobsites, and possible repair facilities. Understand and follow safe and established loading procedures. Safely load, unload, secure, and inspect equipment for transportation. Assist other shop personnel in maintaining an organized, efficient, and safe work environment. Clean equipment entering or leaving the field. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the shop, yard, tool room, storage areas, and company vehicles. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements. Demonstrate initiative and self-motivation by remaining productive and efficient throughout the workday and during downtime between deliveries.Examples of Downtime Activities Include:
- Cleaning, organizing, and maintaining the shop, yard, vehicles, trailers, equipment, and storage areas.
- Managing and organizing inventory, tools, parts, supplies, and materials.
- Assisting with equipment preparation, housekeeping, safety initiatives, and other tasks assigned by the Shop Manager or Shop Mechanic.

Preferred:
High School Diploma or equivalent.LICENSING / REGISTRATION / CERTIFICATION
Required:
Valid driver's license. Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets company insurance requirements. Able to safely operate company-owned vehicles, trucks, and trailers. Able to pass a pre-employment drug test and comply with a 100% drug-free policy.EXPERIENCE
Preferred:
Experience transporting equipment, materials, or tools using trucks and trailers. Knowledge of equipment transportation principles, including vehicle and trailer capacity limitations, load distribution, and cargo securement practices. Experience working in a construction, warehouse, fleet, or heavy equipment environment. Basic direction and navigation aptitude. Desire to learn new skills and take on increasing levels of responsibility.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, and occasionally move heavier items with assistance or mechanical lifting devices. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb, reach, and work in varying positions throughout the workday. Ability to repeatedly enter and exit trucks, trailers, and equipment. Ability to safely load, unload, secure, and transport equipment and materials. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, eye protection, respirators, gloves, and steel-toed footwear. Sufficient vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to safely operate vehicles, equipment, and hand tools.WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is performed both indoors and outdoors. The employee will regularly work in a shop/warehouse setting and at times perform work in outdoor environments with varying temperatures and weather conditions. Travel and deliveries may be required in all types of weather, including rain, snow, heat, and below-freezing temperatures. Standard shop, warehouse, construction, and automotive hazards apply. Noise levels are generally moderate but may increase with adjacent shop or jobsite activity. Employees are required to wear appropriate PPE based on job duties and work environment. Work hours are dictated by business and construction industry demands.
