Job Description

Part-Time Office Assistant / Bookkeeper

Schedule:

Flexible Monday

•Friday. Must be available for weekly payroll processing and certified payroll deadlines.

$25

•$30 / hour, based on certified payroll experience About Hummel Electric, Inc. Hummel Electric, Inc. is an established electrical contractor in Evansville, IN specializing in commercial, industrial, and public works projects, including INDOT work. As a union contractor, we take pride in quality workmanship, safety, and compliance. We are looking for a dependable, detail-oriented professional to join our small office team. Position Summary This is a critical part-time role for someone who can keep our office and books running accurately. You will manage day-to-day bookkeeping in QuickBooks and own our union certified payroll compliance process from start to finish. Key Responsibilities 1. Bookkeeping

•QuickBooks Process weekly payroll in QuickBooks on time and accurately Process vendor invoices, verify job coding, and send payments (check / ACH) Manage Accounts Payable Maintain organized financial files and job cost records 2. Certified Payroll & Union Compliance Prepare, review, and submit weekly Certified Payroll Reports for prevailing wage jobs Submit reports to INDOT via LCPtracker, General Contractors, and project owners Ensure full compliance with union CBA requirements

•including tracking wages, fringes, dues, and benefit contributions Prepare and submit monthly remittances and reports to various Union Halls / Fringe Benefit Funds (IBEW Health & Welfare, Pension, Annuity, Training, etc.) Maintain up-to-date wage rates, fringe rates, employee classifications, and apprenticeship ratios per project Maintain audit-ready certified payroll and union records 3. Office Administration & Fleet Answer phones, greet visitors, and manage general office correspondence Maintain employee files, compliance documents, and certificates of insurance Maintain up-to-date registration for the vehicle fleet, including renewals, insurance cards, and compliance documentation Manage office filing, supplies, and general administrative support for ownership and project managers

Qualifications Required:

2+ years of experience with Certified Payroll Reporting for public works / prevailing wage

Required:

Experience with union payroll and reporting to union halls / fringe funds

Required:

Proficient in QuickBooks Online or Desktop

•

Payroll and Bill Pay Strongly Preferred:

Experience with LCPtracker and INDOT certified payroll process Strong knowledge of Davis-Bacon, prevailing wage laws, and union CBA compliance Highly accurate, organized, and deadline-driven

•payroll compliance cannot be late Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook Able to handle confidential information with discretion
