Job Description

Position Overview:
Groat Law, a boutique law firm specializing in family law, is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant/Office Manager , dedicated and organized, to join our team on a full-time basis. The Office Manager leads the administrative team while efficiently and effectively managing the processes . This opportunity is blended in administrative leadership and organizational management while upholding the firm's professionalism, confidentiality and service standards. The Legal Assistant/Office Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining a high level of situational awareness , delivering excellent customer service, and ensuring smooth operations . This is an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic legal environment and collaborate with experienced legal professionals. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering exceptional service in a fast-paced environment. Responsibility Overview (including but not limited to) : Lead the administrative team and manage the administrative processes Be familiar with the Michigan Court Rules, specifically, Domestic Relations cases Ensure every client has completed a fee agreement with retainer on file Create client files; physical file and electronic Understand pleadings and proof of service; how to, time allotted, etc. The most important task is Attorney calendar management . Ensure clients are properly informed of any court dates and deadlines, including essential forms provided to appropriate parties Process and maintain court orders/drafts, meeting all deadline expectations Assist Attorney(s) with discovery interrogations Maintain client follow up for documents, these are time sensitive Review files and consider what we need for exhibits Create closing letters for every case Perform other clerical duties as assigned by the attorneys
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a legal assistant/office manager (with direct experience in leadership and project management) and litigation support, ideally in family law Ability to work independently, among a team while leading a team and maintaining individual deadlines Familiarity with legal terminology, procedures and documents Strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Exceptional writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence with clarity and professionalism Proven proofreading abilities to ensure accuracy in all legal materials Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality while working through intense situations Proficient in using office equipment such as phones, printers, and computers Ability to learn and navigate multiple software programs, on own Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively Professional and friendly demeanor At Groat Law we offer competitive compensation, medical insurance, 401k and paid time off.
