Job Duties:
Under administrative direction, this position will serve as the Director of Human Resources for the WV Office of Technology (WVOT) reporting to the Chief Information Officer. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Direct, manage, and plan the functions of the Human Resources Office which includes a staff of four (4). Provides input and makes recommendations to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) on the direction and management of the WVOT and strategic plan. Serves as a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and provides administrative updates during SLT meetings. The development, analysis, and/or interpretation of state and federal statutes, regulations, rules, policies and procedures affecting human resources. The ability to provide guidance, direction and clarification to employees, supervisors, managers, and directors within WVOT as it relates to personnel issues. Will have oversight of the HR systems and HR related processes.
Examples include:
interviews, conducting orientation / exit interviews, application reviews, maintaining personnel records, progressive discipline and ethics guidelines. Compiles and provides updated reports as monthly and as requested. Drafts various correspondence for personnel issues. Updates policies, procedures, and the employee handbook Coordinates and provides HR related training to employees, supervisors, managers, and directors. Gather information related to employee complaints and advise of the appropriate actions. Performs other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications:
Training:
Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a degree in the area of assignment.
Substitution:
Experience as described below may substitute for the training requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Experience:
Five years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid administrative or supervisory experience in the area of assignment.
