POSITION SUMMARY
Under the guidance of the pharmacy department leadership, supports the department with administrative and direct patient care activities. Provides on-going data entry, data processing, and data extraction. Processes purchase orders, travel/check requisitions, etc. Arranges repairs of equipment as needed. Performs word processing as required. Interacts with all levels of pharmacy staff and patients to support the pharmacy program and operations. Reports directly to the Chief Pharmacist or designee.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES
Provides excellent customer service as pharmacy front window clerk, fielding in-person and telephone questions and requests from patients and providers. Manages the register transactions, end-of-day register close-out, and record-keeping. Responds respectfully and appropriately to clients and other health care providers. Keeps waiting patients informed about the status of their wait time. Maintains patient and program data in a secure, organized, and confidential manner. Coordinates and prepares travel for pharmacy staff. Assists with department organization and stocking, as needed. Prepares and processes purchase requests and check requisitions. Provides data processing for purchases of materials, supplies, and services as appropriate. Follow-up by telephone or written correspondence with vendors as necessary. Prepares work orders for repair services on equipment (fax, copiers, etc.) on request. Understands performance of duty limitations as a non-licensed pharmacy staff member, and adheres to these boundaries.
Job Qualifications:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent. Exceptional customer service and verbal communication skills are essential. Possess ability to enter/extract data at a competent pace. Reads and responds to a visual display screen. Must possess good problem-solving ability, as well as have good communication skills and able to operate basic office equipment including computers. Must be independent and well organized. Must be able to process and track work requests, and adhere to record-keeping requirements. Maintaining patient confidentiality is of the utmost importance.
