QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires knowledge of proper office practices and procedures; proper spelling, punctuation, grammar, and English usage; proper telephone techniques and etiquette; the basic policies and procedures related to student registration, admissions and record maintenance; the legal requirements, principles and procedures for stu­dent, staff and program records; word processing techniques; the Spanish language. Must possess the sill to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms in both Spanish and English; effectively analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course­(s) of action; communicate effectively in both oral and written form; effectively maintain record keeping systems and files in a timely manner; type accurately at a rate of 40 net words per minute ; operate office machines and equipment including computer termi­nal, calculator and copy machines; identify and correct errors in a variety of program records and documents; establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contact­ed in the performance of required duties. Two years of increasingly responsible clerical experience, including contact with students or the general public, and statistical record keeping on a computer. Must pass an oral, reading and written proficiency in Spanish.

FIVE-MINUTE TYPING CERTIFICATE MUST ACCOMPANY APPLICATION TO BE SUCCESSFUL.
Certificates must be less than two years old and cannot be completed through an online website. Kern High School District employees who currently work in a position requiring the same or higher minimum typing speed do not need to submit a typing certificate.
A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK AND PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL ASSESSMENT WILL BE REQUIRED OF THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT. DUTIES OF POSITION
To perform a variety of responsible clerical duties involved in student registra­tion, enrollment and attendance records maintenance, and fiscal reports in the District's Independent Study program. Employees in this classification receive general supervision from a school administrator within a framework of standard policies and procedures. Employees in the classification may supervise assis­tants. This job classification requires the knowledge of specialized areas of program policies and procedures, exercising independent judgment and problem-solving skills, and accuracy in compiling data reports. This employee interprets orally and translates written material in Spanish as required.
